Paranormal/ghost experience: 6/10/08 approx 10:30 PM: Black Orb

Let me start by saying that I've been sleeping with a lamp on in my bedroom every night ever since I noticed that there was always far more activity in the room when the light is off. On 6/10, I forgot to turn on the lamp for the first time in months.

I had been asleep for about an hour when I woke up (or was awakened). Since the activity started, I've gotten in the habit of looking all around the room as soon as I wake up. I had been sleeping on my back, and I immediately looked above the bed to my right, which is next to the wall. In the dim light, I saw a black shape which on first impression I thought was one of those big (male) mosquitos. As I came awake more fully, I realized it had too many "legs" and was too round and "filled out" to be a mosquito, and also that it was moving toward my face. I jumped out of bed and turned around to face it, and it turned and continued to move toward me. At this point, I was shaking from adrenaline and rather panicked. I was holding the sheet and blanket I had apparently taken with me off of the bed, so I threw them at the shape hoping to knock it out of the air. Then I ran for the light and turned it on. I didn't see the thing, so I checked my clothing and hair to make sure it wasn't on me. After a few moments of staring at the covers on the floor, I summoned the courage to lift them carefully and check them back and front. There was nothing there.

I can only describe the shape as a black orb. Sort of like a puffy black dandelion with spokes or "legs" radiating from a central hub. It was about 4 inches in diameter.

Oddly, I didn't feel as if the thing meant me any harm, or that I was in any danger. In fact, after the adrenaline rush wore off, I went right back to sleep. Nothing else out of the ordinary happened that night (though I made sure to leave not one but two lamps on). I still slept on the couch for two nights afterward.

I had never seen nor heard of anything like this before, but afterwards I did an Internet search for "black orb" and found a few things from others who have experienced them. Evidently they are rare and mostly dismissed as ball lightening or an illusion created by a vision problem.

Awesome.

Becca just told me about this the other day, and I immediately encouraged her to post it. Becca has been having these experiences in that room for a couple of years now. I've slept in that room twice. Both times, I had profound experiences. The first time, there was a sudden, heavy pressure on the bed, accompanied by a loud sound, as if something hit the bed really hard and fast. This was at 8am, and I immediately woke up and saw nothing unusual. The second time, there was gentle pressure (it felt like about 10 to 20 pounds), as if something was slowly climbing onto the bed. I woke up as soon as it happened, and yet I felt it move all the way up until it would have been right next to my face, yet I saw nothing unusual. I'll probably get into more detail about my experiences in the room another time. I just wanted to point out that there is definitely something interesting going on in that room.

Becca, I'd say the main reason that you didn't feel threatened is that you've had so many of these experiences now, over such a long course of time, and it's never hurt you in any way. Even though it's extremely unusual, it doesn't seem to be harmful. It even started out by gently touching you on the shoulder the first few times, which is a very polite form of contact. It definitely seems to be progressing to more interesting forms of interaction!

Where did it go?

In between you looking at it, and turning on the light, what happened to it? Did you actually hit it with the covers?

I saw it coming toward me and

I saw it coming toward me and threw the covers at it, then turned my back as I ran for the light switch. I believe I did hit it with the covers, but I'm not sure. It may have "disappeared" before the covers hit it, or when I turned on the light. It was there when I threw the covers, and gone after I turned on the light. I didn't see it in-between.
